Domesticated- A poem.

I now sort the laundry
it's not such a pain,
and I do like my whites
 free of pink stains

The freezer is full of veggies and fries
but the leftover bags are still closed with hair ties

I'm trying to read up on natural food facts
I don't want to moniter Will's weekly Big Mac
Hotdogs and sliders are listed with fish
Will, you can eat 'um
But you will clean the dish

I now talk the talk of grocery store jargon
I've hit a new realm of finding the bargain
I'm cleaning and cooking quite Stepford I feel,
but my love for my husband makes me quite real

I've accustomed myself to household affairs
but I still remain true to my sweet unique flare.
It takes time to become domesticated
I still think some things are way over rated.

Lazys and Crazys

My dryer has to cycle twice per load in order for the clothes to be dry. Will thinks the hamper is for all his clothes; clean or dirty. Calculating the math, I will be doing laundry for the next 234 years without stopping. However, my feud with the laundry is balanced out with my love for the vaccum. We finally invested in a vacuum. It's the cheapest thing on the market but I have reason to believe it can suck up elephants. As Pia refers to it, "vaccums are like toys for married women." You may just be onto something, Peas... So future guests, nevermind the hor'devour crumbs you leave about; they are welcome. As you can tell, Will and I had a VERY exciting weekend. You see, Will was very sick with a cold however, thankfully it was nothing long hours of video games with Jonny couldn't fix :). I kept myself occupied with 1/2 off saturday at GoodWill and re-arranging the closets. Secret: enjoyed every minute of it. So, with Will's, "itchy lungs" and my procrastination, the rest of our weekend was spent transformed into couch potatoes. So a couple weeks ago as I was walking on campus when a elderly lady tried to encourage me to sign some kind of petition. We chatted for a minute and it didn't take her long to get into the real meat of political corruption in today's society. Sadly, I am completely in the dark when it comes to politics and thought perhaps this lady will drop a little bug in my ear and I will become a bit more interested. She continued to ask my party and began boasting about how she is so experienced that she, herself, can tell a person's party just by glancin' at 'em. Astonished, I was eager for her to explain. The lady looked at me, nervous to reveal her secret know-how and said, "Republican's always wear white tennis shoes with white socks." HM........... I am still not motivated to engage in politics but I do wonder about their footwear. Eleanor already looks like cottage cheese from being loved...the make-over didn't last too long. The couch potatoe weekend did her in. Will's medicine: Call of Duty 4 vacuuming away...hey, you don't have to plug it in- I have no boundaries!

Birds of a feather flock together

a chocolate lover's nibble of the brick you find only in France... a dollop of honey you can only sneak from the bees... a man's morsel of sausage someone prepared with a science... a lady's fine lace that only comes as a scrap... This was our morning. A bit dramatic, but oh what a tease! While my family is at our MN cabin and Bob is in Iowa City for the big game...Will and I got a small taste of our roots at an Iowa bar in AZ. Today was the season kick off (Iowa vs. UNI) and our hawkeyes proved they were a feather that flock together. The sandbar was packed with black, gold, and midwestern cheer. It was very warming to be around such a crowd and exchange news of our hometowns. I have to admit... although I am in the know of the hawkeyes crack-of-dawn tailgating ways, I thought we would be loner's there, however, it was full. I am still extremely suprised of this Iowa sector Arizona has but hey, what's not to love? Needless to say, we had a good time and are now part of the Phoenix Iowa Club. Will and I came home from a rainy, wet morning and were thankful we had a roof over our heads... but apparently not our bed. Yes, our roof has a major leak and our bed is soaked. We are waiting on maintence but seeing as it's a holiday weekend our wait may be lengthy. However, Will and I do love a good living room fort and this may just be our AZ fort debut night... I'll get the clothes-pins:) Enjoy labor day weekend and don't be spending it tackling the honey-do list. It's the day for, (as my dad would say), relaxation, recooperation, and reflection. I tried to get a picture of the crowd but this picture doesn't do it justice. Will and Eric with a couple Iowans (eric's friend flew in) Iowa winning...
